Not had Shimano brakes in many years. Notice the second hand Bizango I bought has rotors saying only to use organic pads? WTF?
Acera bl-m 396 brakes.
Going to use Race Matrix pads as I do with my Guides. 25% off today to at Uberbike...
😏
Can I just assume the Shimano rotors will just wear faster by using non organic? Not bothered about that as the bike is a winter grinder and I'll replace the rotors with some cheap ones when necessary.
I think it’s because they’re a sod for warping and probably wouldn’t like the extra heat from sintered pads.
Really? That's a pain!
Might have to get some cheap rotor too then. I just thought they would wear faster.
Bugger.
I’ve run them with everything including Kevlar that needs heat just to work in the Alps, it doesn’t seem to warp them any worse.
So run then and see I guess? Not used for anything dramatic, just north downs mincing.lol
They're made of monkey metal basically. Sintered wear them out very (very) fast just like with cheap aftermarket ones. I've used kevlar on them with decent results, they did still wear a bit fast but not horribly.
Ok thanks guys.
I'll run them till they wear badly then swap them out. I don't think the Race Matrix compound is as abrasive as sintered(?) so will see how I get on.
Cheers!
I used them with sintered pads. They worked ok but juddered a bit under hard braking.
Uberbike told me that the race matrix pads are organic based and so should be fine when I asked them about the same thing.
