I've got a pair of Shimano MW7's which are now 5yrs old. In general they have been great but the velcro has failed and the cover flaps about0.
Has anyone had success with replacing the velcro? If so, I'd love to hear your stories of success (or failure).
Oooh. Me too. I've some MW5s that did exactly that last year. Following ...
The velcro is sewn in, you could try replacing it and glue/sew it into place. Two pairs of MW7's here, one the velcro only, the other the BOA and all OK so far (older MW7's are about 8 years old).
I ended up making a wraparound strap to keep the flap in place on my old mw5s.
Very basic velcro pull strap glued to the sole to keep it in place. Worked surprisingly well.
The idea of unpicking stitching on stiff boot material didn't fill me with joy.
I've replaced the velcro on a pair of shimano shoes, used some strong nylon thread and it took a while to sew on, but it worked well.
Local indie fixed mine, I think he glued and stitched new velcro, held up well still going strong.
Thanks all. I've got some heavy duty sticky backed velcro coming. I think it should be ok to unpick the stitching for the existing velcro and replace. Time will tell if it needs stitching as well...
