I don't know if I'm being a bit of a biff but is there some jedi method of lacing the cracking MT91 boots? I'm baffled by the point of the velcro tongues and feel like I'm missing some brilliant technological advancement.
I've had the old MT90's for years and they're the same. I can't find anything on the web to explain it.

What is this Velcro tongue of which you speak?

The leather bit of the tongue with shimano on it is velcro ed to the goretex one underneath. I'm just wondering why. All my mountain boots have one piece tongues so I was wondering if the reason was something bike specific.
I know what you mean. It may be that pulling the two apart will help the boot dry out better (i.e. it will introduce some air between the Gore-tex sock/liner and the outer leather of the boot?)
My outer tongue is straight, my inner tongue is aligned to my imperfect shins. The laces tuck down the elastic.
None of this is as pervy as it sounds.
Oh well, thanks for the ideas. It doesn't take away from the fact that they're crackin boots.
