Just purchased a pair of shimano MT91 from demon tweeks one size larger than my size, as I was fed up of frozen feet this winter.
Second time out in them today in the wet, I thought my feet were getting a little damp I thought it was the rain running down the legs, until I stopped at one of the gates to get the bike through. It had around 2" of water around it. I could feel the boots filling up, but it was only 1/2 mile from home, on removal of the boots there was about 1/4" of water in the bottom.
So I dryed them out put 2" of water in a bowl and inserted them into the water one at a time and proceeded to see them getting wet inside especially the right one.
On looking at the design it looks like the water is getting in via the holes in the leather travels down the outside of the goretex until it gets to the part were the sides and footbase meet, the water then gets pass the seam and fills up the boot.
The problem is I tried them on and they felt comfortable and some spare room to keep the feet warmer in the cold so I threw the packaging out. I will have to ring Demon Tweeks to see what they say as on the returns they state about packaging etc but these are defective and not what you would expect from a goretex product.
I have a two year old pair of North Face goretex trainers which have never given me wet feet.
