Anyone using either? Pretty much same price in sales.

Look like nice option for ispec ev.

Got XTR ones - really like them. Would happily use MT500 though.

9 mm cable stroke - Deore MT500 Steel cable
7 mm cable stroke - XTR MT800 Stainless steel cable, Light operation effort by bearing(Shimano blurb)

Don't know what difference the cable stroke makes, but go with the XTR if it's the same price as it's higher level.

Will get the SLX one. Was going to go Wolftooth but the adjustment on the Shimano looks better and matches everything else on the bars!

I’m on my second mt500. Really great bit of kit. I buggered up the cable clamp bolt on the first one through hamfistedness though.
if you can get one that says xtr on for the same money why not. I’m sure there’s not much in it functionally.

I have been looking at these and wondered if they are i-spec only or do you get a clamp with them? Also are they compatible with Hope brakes or is an adapter required.

The MT500 one seems to be available as both. The XTR one is only listed as an i-Spec.

I have the MT500 which is as good as my previous OneUp at half the price.

OP where can you buy the XTR clamp one for the same price ? I paid £22 landed.

XTR one doesn't have XTR written on it, disappointed, no point buying it then 😀
Being serious for a second, the XTR includes cables so it's a no brainer really if you don't need bar clamp version.

The MT500 one comes with cables as well. I paid £22 from bikeparts.co.uk. I didn't know they existed till recently, not sure why you'd pay anymore than that for a fancy one.

Its not made specifically clear from the site:

https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-m6100/SL-MT500-L.html

but it looks like these Shimano droppers suit the cable nipple at the seat post end, and clamp at the lever end? ##

(there doesnt appear to be an agreed standard as I've had posts that work each way!)

Yup thats correct. Not sure why that isn't the standard way of doing things yet, most seem to be that way these days but some brands want to make life more faffy for some reason

i've had the mt500 one for 2 1/2 years on one bike, the pivot is a bit wobbly now,
to fit to hope tech 3 i've used on of these
https://www.merlincycles.com/hope-tech-3-direct-mount-shifter-clamp-for-shimano-xt-xtr-11-speed-91002.html

i believe hope tech 4 are EV mounts same as shimano.

just gone bling with a wolf tooth one, the pink and espresso coloured ones look great

How does the Shimano compare to Wolftooth? Anyone used both?

Shimano one arrived today. Throw seems quite short but hopefully it will work ok! Bike arrives Friday so will see when it comes.

The throw definitely is shorter but think there’s a bit of cam action going on. Works fine with a Brand-X is that helps
