Thinking of picking these up: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shimano-MT400-Hydraulic-Disc-Brake-Set-1300-1000mm-J-Kit-Internal-Routing/193658032578?epid=4028056945&hash=item2d16eb11c2:g:PCIAAOSwAE9fW25g

and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

Thanks

Haven't run those but you can get Clarks M2 for the same money and they're pretty good and no reliability issues so far.

I've run an older pair of those budget shimano single piston stoppers for over a year.

I love 'em.

They don't have the servo wave of the deore+ brakes, which in turn makes them feel less on/off and you really do get more modulation and control. They feel much closer in feel to the hope 4 pots on my other bike than to other shimano brakes.

The levers are fairly long but I run them inside of the gear shifter for a perfect single finger position.

I run them with 200mm front and 180mm rear discs and would encourage you to do the same.

They are a bargain and haven't gone wrong.

I made up a parts bin special just before Xmas and I'm using an older version of these brakes.

Apart from squeaky pads (which was to be expected as they had sat in a plastic bag for god knows how long) they have been spot on. They lack a bit of power compared to fancier brakes, my main bike uses XTs but if anything they are more consistent (zero wandering bite point).

Bear in mind this is based on a sample size of two though!

Have these on two boys' bikes (the adjustable reach makes them great for that) and they have been spot on.
