I am changing the whole drive train on my Freeranger after 8000 miles.Due to the non availability of PG1130 cassettes I am trying to fit a Shimano M5100 cassette onto the existing Fulcrum freehub. My heads exploding because the cassette is binding on something and the drivetrain is not running freely.I tried with no spacer at the rear of the cassette, total binding.A 1.0mm spacer frees things a little, but when you push the bike the pedals rotate.A 1.75mm spacer is no better although you can now tighten the thru axle fully.

What am I missing? Most comments suggest a Shimano cassette is a straight swop for a SRAM.

Help!

When swapping cassettes was the freehub body removed at any point and, if so, have you omitted to reinstall a spacer that sits between the freehub and the hub?

No the freehub was left on wheel, also it seems to spin freely when the cassettes off.

Sram appears to suggest a 1.85mm spacer is needed.

If you fit the wheel into your frame without the cassette, does it spin freely?

Are there any axle end caps you have missed off?

Problem solved,or put on one side for another day.The wheel was my spare wheel which has been sitting in the attic for ages. When I first got it out I rotated the freewheel and it seemed ok,but fitting the cassette and spinning the wheel seems to have stirrred up some sludge in the pawl area which is suspiciously quiet.I’ve drenched it in GT85 and it is moving better now but it would be better to do a full service.Cassette now on my old wheel and spinning freely,so thanks for the help.
