Just done my fisrt ride with the new Shimano M200 so called Enduro shoes.
The feel is good plenty of protection far more than the previous shimanos i've use & the mavics too. They have a good amount of heel protection, the buckle feels slimmer than previous models & though they felt a bit tight once you get the draw string set right there's plenty of room.
The front vents keep out a lot of water as theyre not like a summer vent so with a seal skin sock you should be able to get through winter reasonably dry & warm.
Cheers

Did they make the trail come alive?
Hmm i wouldnt say Alive but theyre a good shoe & with a rubber tread blocks, should be good for the hike a bike climbs in the lakes unlike the hard plastick feel of the older soles
Are they 650b compatible?
Duh! It says they are Enduro so must mean they are...
I wasn't sure, as they don't seem to come in a range of garish, clashing, euro-fluoro colorwayz.
that colourway [sic] isn't available in the UK, so i'm led to believe...
Mine are black with touch of trail friendly white on them great for mud! , oh and they suit 650B well captainflashheart, Bronsons that is.
How much and do they have enduro written on them so others know my religion?
Not enough euro-flouro.
Boy, this hilarious enduro-banter just doesn't get old does it? You guys!
Damn they are ugly. Laces under the flap?

Hope you were wearing a fullface helmet
Hope you were [s]wearing[/s] rocking a fullface helmet
FTFY, NW, braaaah.
After another wet typical wintery ride the M200's are much better at keeping my feet drier & warmer so it's all good for now, theyre in short supply so you'l have to go hunting if you want some.
How are they for hike-a-bike?
Will they work with full suss enduro Fatbikes ?
atlaz,
The normal hard plastic type of soles on my older Shimano shoes were crap at hike a bike on wet rock, mostly lakes stuff, the M200 soles have a rubber feel to the them much better but i'll find out soon as I'm of for a few days in the lakes but for now they're much better at keeping my feet dry in the winter crud & feel much more robust with more protection round the toes & heel.
Full Suss Enduro fatys..... nahh they're only good for 650B rickmeister
I want something I can walk (a little bit) in. So I can do steep hikes with the bike without ending up on my face. Main alternative is the Terraduro but that doesn't look as winter-friendly
these look amazing apart for the price. Why dont the lower range have the ankle protection. grrr. I seem to forever crack my ankles on chainstays on the mountianbike so ankle protection is a godsend but would be nice to get it without the weight of full winter boot.
I'm impressed with the Ankle protection so far & round the toe area too, going to go with my seal skin socks and try to get through winter with out resorting to new boots.
A proper test on wet rocks in the lakes will be done soon to really see how grippy they are on hike a bike stuff.
Weight wise they feel good not cumbersome at all.
Eddie11 - the Am45 shoes share the same ankle protection design if that's the feature you're after for less cash?
They're not too bad at home a bike but they're still quite a stiff shoe. Fore and aft stiffness is really very good (just shy of the xc90 rave shoe) but the sole allows for some twist side to side - makes them a bit better on uneven ground. The sole is reasonably grippy but not mega grippy. Slightly less stiff shoes are better at hike a bike I reckon but given the stiffness for pedaling they're good. They are a (enduro) race shoe after all.
Resurrecting this...
Has anyone tried these that has also ridden the Specialized Rimes? I was going to order the M200's but the Rimes are so cheap in January sales that I'm tempted to save a few quid.
Particularly interested in stiffness between the two?
Tenacious Doug, a friend I ride with a lot has rimes, loves them to bit, cost savings are huge but after trying the M200's in real crappy weather I've found them to be better than any other shoe I've had at keeping the tootsies dry and warmer with decent socks, that said Rimes with a over shoe would be spot on.
Grip wise on wet rock the M200's are very good, protection is spot on too.
Cheers
Mark
I wish I'd kept my rave shoes...
