Watching Dylan Johnson's recent video got me thinking about drop bar-ifying my Trek Superfly again.
I've never really got on with attempts to use alt-bars or inner bar ends, they just don't seem to offer the same platform or ergonomics of a drop bar setup, and this puts me off doing any 'big' distances on the MTB.
I briefly rode with one of the front-runners of GBDuro a couple of years ago and noticed she was running Shimano MTB callipers with GRX shifters, so I know there are certain combinations of shifter and calliper that work together.
How do I find out which callipers might work?
Ta
Any will with ok ime, pick whichever caliper you want which has appropriate hose fitting for hose you have (assuming you have hose/shifter).
I currently run deore m6100 caliper with ultegra r8020 shifters
Shimano have pages of compatibility charts on their website.

Most calipers are OK - I'm running XT ones with GRX levers. There are a few unique combinations though so worth checking the charts.
Thanks guys, I almost immediately found another YouTube video pretty much confirming what you have both said 👍
Still works out to be a £2-300 swap including shifters, bars, tape etc. so much as I like a set of drops occasionally I'm probably better just persisting with the alt bar tinkering! 😬
I've been running M615 and M6000 calipers with my old RS685 levers for I guess 5+ years now, and they've been faultless. It's fine to use mtb calipers, but worth checking if there are some that aren't compatible.
GRX810 levers and SLX BR-M666 caliper combo works perfectly for me.
just remember flat mount versus mtb regular post mount, i did deore with tiagra levers a few years back, but it was a 2017 gravel and post mount so straight forward
