Cant find the tool anywhere
eBay for olives and inserts. This for the tool

I use these olives
I then just place the hose flat and cut through at 90* with a new Stanley knife blade. Push the olives in by hand then push them home by forcing them on a flat surface or tapping with a hammer. Fasten in hoses and top up fluid, pump a bit to remove any air bubbles the top up, seal back up.
You need the silver insert, the one in the first CRC link is the older larger one. Have you tried LBS?
this is the tool you need to cut hoses with...

Cheers Chaps, life got in the way and this is the first time I have looked at the bike since posting a week or so ago!! Will check out the links and organise the bits recommended.
surprisingly I did a click and collect with halfords and the had them the next day 🙂
halfords can actually be handy! Nice to walk into an actual shop every now and then!
I just used cable cutters to cut the hose.I made a hose gripper(whatever it's called) with 2 small pieces of wood placed in a vice and drilled a hole where they press together. When I bought an xt front brake the hose gripper and plastic caliper spacer came with it.
Quality cable cutters to shorten the hose, slide the new olive down the hose, enlarge end of cut hose with bradawl or smallest key of park aws_10, clamp with mole grips the Shimano yellow plastic blocks 10mm down from the cut end, tap the insert home with hammer, slide olive to end of hose and screw the lever/hose fitting using spanner whilst pushing the hose against the stop.
Those inserts linked to on Halfords are not the correct ones for new slx.
You need the bh 90 ones

Just use cable cutters or a new sharp Stanley knife for the cut, work fine.
Weren't they in the box with the new brakes? Shimano usually ship an olive, a spigot and a hose clamp with each brake.
