You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Brother in law has just bought himself a Trek 3500 disc for commute and it says it has 'Shimano HL 280 mechanical disc brakes'. I can't find the part on Shimano's web site and can't find which pads he would need.
He's completely incompetent at mechanical stuff (even more than me!) so does anyone know their 'true' part number and which pads to get? I can then source some spares and send them on.
He's in Norway, so not easy to take a peek.
They are not Shimano callipers. The description actually says "HL280 mechanical disc with Shimano Tourney levers"
Hopefully a Trek dealer will be able to tell you what pads they need but they won't be Shimano.
Ah, that makes sense. Ta. Think they're some Chinese thing. Hmm.. Hopefully they'll be manufactured to take an off-the-shelf pad, else I'll have to go back over there and install some cheapo Shimanos.
