Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK selling a full GRX 810 mechanical groupset as an option? CRC look like they are going to have one, which isn't much good to me at this point, plus, if their other builders are anything to go by there wont be a saving.

I've found options on Bike24 and Bike-Components, given the current Brexit bollocks their price may change suddenly. Just wondering if those would come with the brake hoses the wrong way round, or if that's something you get to fit yourself with these things...?

I've never had a set of STI's, or hydraulic disc brakes for that matter, so it's all new to me...

My Reilly is waiting for GRX815 2x. It's all available apart from the crankset. Reilly can't get a date from Shimano/Madison - it was originally supposed to be August.

I don't know about availability but swapping Hoses on Shimano hydro is really easy.

This may be a crazy idea, but why not speak to a local bike shop? Pretty sure they could supply you and help with fitting if it's your first foray into hydraulic disc brakes.

I bought my GRX crankset from them^

Looks as though they have the 800 series in stock?

I’m running a 1x GRX 810 Rear derailleur and 800 shifters with a sram force crankset, with Absolute black chainring and a sram 11-42 cassette, with no issues. Of course doesn’t help if you need 2x !

If you by a 1x GRX groupset, does the LH lever automatically come set up to operate a dropper, or do you still need to buy another LH lever to run a dropper?

@mister-p I'm after 1x, so doubles are no use. As for LBS, the one I used shut and I haven't found a replacement that I'm happy with.

@BoardinBob that looks like just the ticket, obviously my duckduckgo-fu is weak...

@roverpig I don't think so, the ST-RX810-LA dropper brake isn't mentioned on all the group set pages I've seen so far.

Slight tangent - how do the hydraulic cross top levers work?

I can't think how they'd manage this with an open system.

Just fitted 2x11 GRX 810/600 to a Kinesis AT frame and built it up to sale (blatant stealth ad lol)

I would be carefull and double check what you get, as you can really mix and match the groupset.
I not seen a "pure" 2x11 810 groupset deal from any of my suppliers yet. (the RX600 2x11, does come with RX810 F & R mech)
So if you really want all RX810, you might have to buy each part and get it together yourself.

Also the GRX 810 double Cranks only come in 48/31 raito, the RX600 cranks comes 46/30 and prob be the main one in 2x11 "groupset" package.
Also double check the Shifters of 810 as the have a "dropper post" LH Shifter but it will not shift front gears.
Gen info, GRX 810 have 3 LH options, Double(gears), Dropper post and No shifter for 1x.

Hope that helps.
ps for more info on Kinesis AT (size 56cm) GRX build please message me..lol

K1100t,
As you looking for 1x11 810, madison do have most of the kit in stock. so a LBS should be able to get it in for you.
They do a wide range 1x with cas of 11-40 or 11-42
Or close range with 11-30, 11-32 or 11-34 cass
only thing that out of stock from a quick look are the 42t cranks in 170 & and 175 lengths
40T are in stock. so really does depend on what you planning on running.

Thanks @k1100t So, I'd need to check specifically for ST-RX810-LA, or more likely buy a groupset and that lever then try to sell the other lever (sigh).

I used CRC as a baseline last night when pricing up individually. You can see why I'd rather buy a "complete" groupset (doesn't include BB or rotors):

Shimano GRX 810 Left Hand Brake only CRC £ 169.99
Shimano GRX 810 11 Speed Shifter CRC £ 185.99
Shimano GRX 810 Brake Caliper (front & rear) CRC £ 109.98
Shimano GRX 810 1x11 Speed Chainset CRC £ 177.00
Shimano GRX 812 1x11 Shadow+ Rear Derailleur CRC £ 84.99
Shimano XT M8000 11 Speed 11-42t Cassette CRC £ 59.99
Shimano Ultegra 6800-XT M8000 HG701 QLink Chain CRC £ 19.99
                                                  Total £ 807.93

GRX groupset - Bike Components (inc postage) £ 760.00 (approx)
GRX groupset - Vanilla Bikes (postage?) £ 749.99

@mtb-rob I was planning on 42T, only as they don't come with anything larger, I do live in south Cambridgeshire, where the lumpy terrain is legendary... If I could afford it, I would've got this new Hope RX chainset, with a 44T oval direct mount ring, but I can't, so wont.

@roverpig I did think about spec'ing that lever with the new Pro Discover dropper, but funds just wont allow it.

I can’t think how they’d manage this with an open system.

I was wondering that. One way could be to have a port in the crosstop levers master cylinder which is open to the main lever, so when you squeeze the sti it just passes through that cylinder. Then when you brake from the tops that port is closed off.

Basicly exactly the same as a normal open system brake lever except the sti is the only one with a resevoir. The crosstop would need a lip behind the piston to stop it pushing out so would have to be assembled through the hose end rather than the lever.

Just a guess but couldnt think how else you could run two levers on the same system.

according to our Madison/Shimano rep there are no GRX complete "groupsets" it's pretty much mix and match which is better as you can get exactly what you need

Madison have several GRX groupsets listed in the kit and bundle offers on the b2b though.

Then your rep hasn't looked in the GROUPSETS tab on B2B lately. Glad my work in there isn't going to waste...

hey, he works for Madison, you don't expect him to know what he's talking about do you?

he also told me there was no such thing as a saddle rail light mount that works with a dropper......as i showed him one mounted to the rails of my saddle

Out of interest, what did you go for? I tried the PRO camera saddle mount for my Cycliq but it doesn't work. The top of the light fouls the mount.

Ah sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you had used some kind of mount to attach a non-saddle mount light. Apologies.

Missed this one - a shop can spec a 1x GRX RX800 groupset with a dropper lever from Madison.

FWIW I swapped my 2x11 speed 105 crank for the GRX-FC-RX600 10 speed crank (because it was discounted AND in stock) and it works perfectly with 11 speed and I didn’t need to get the wider GRX specific front mech.

I added that option yesterday Simon, in response to this thread actually.
