As above, the lever won't pop back out to it rest position without my pushing it out with the back of my fingers. Brake is working fine and pads not rubbing. I had a similar issue with the left lever when the bike was quite new and a little squirt of WD40 onto the pivot points fixed it. Doesn't seem to have have rectified it on the right lever (yet). Guess I'll wait a day to see if the WD40 soaks in a bit more but wondered if anyone else had experienced the same problem?
I’ve had this before when the rubber of the hoods wasn’t fitted over the brifter properly which I can’t explain, not on GRX though, on Sora.
Spooky. I have a new Sonder Camino GRX 2x. I have only had it a week and ridden it 3 times. The last ride was 73km in wet weather on very muddy lanes. Although it got a good clean when I got back, the right lever is now sticking exactly as you describe. I have pulled the hood rubber back and sprayed some GT-85 in there but no joy. I'll be ringing Alpkit tomorrow.
I've had the same thing (right hand brifter) after a wet ride and subsequent wash.
I bled the brake which made no difference then sprayed some GT85 in with the bike upside down. No immediate improvement but 24 hours later (not ridden) it was back to normal operation and has been fine since.
Interesting. Maybe I just need to be a bit more liberal with the WD. Assume there's nothing inside the lever that can be affected by the WD like seals or anything?
The original WD40 is primarily for water dispersal and corrosion protection. Some of their other products are more focused on lubrication
I too would look at letting the WD40 to do its job, but apply a lubricating oil instead of more WD40.
Mine was still not working today. I phoned Alpkit, they gave me the option to return for inspection/repair or take it to a trusted LBS. They reckoned it would be a warranty return of the shifter to Madison, it sounded like they'd had a few similar returns. I opted for the LBS as Alpkit were talking 'weeks' before I'd have it back. LBS (Pearce Cycles - highly recommended) reckoned they'd have the shifter back from Madison and fitted early next week, maybe even the end of this week! They'll bill me for labour which Alpkit will pay. Frustrating with a brand new bike, but hopefully soon resolved.
After some more accurately deployed WD and much flicking of the lever all seems back to normal today. Will have to keep an eye on it...
