I've an xt FH-8010B rear hub, this one....

Is it possible to upgrade the freehub to get faster engagement?
The xt engages pretty quickly already, especially compared to the Deore ones. Shimano is not known for their quick engagement really. Not sure how you'd increase the engagement speed as it's generally governed by how many Pawls and points of engagement you have. Which is fixed to the hub design.
Probably not what you want to hear but I'd look at a new hub if you want faster engagement speed. Something from Hope or DT Swiss to name two.

No, not on shimano.

Some hubs (Bontrager/Trek and DTSwiss that i know of) have two or three versions of the freehub or ratchet assembly that changes the engagement speed/angle.
🤔 may have to bite the bullet for a new hub at some point... Just not sure if the investment is worth it (probably isn't). The freehub just seems to have a really slack engagement when compared to the Hope and Tune hubs I've had over the last few years.
Just surprised no one has come up with their own freehub design that is cross compatible back to a Shimano hub body.

This. Do you think it's felt the same from new or is it something you've only started experiencing?
