I got a new road bike a few months back and my old one hasn’t been used since, the old one has got guards on so the rain yesterday meant it got a spin out.
I’ve had issues with the leaky shimano caliper issue and have replaced calipers (5800 105 BTW) but it appears the issue has reappeared. The brakes were shockingly bad and incredibly squeaky.
The new bike has r8000 brakes and they seem to be more effective than the 5800 ever were (although this could be entirely in my head) and it got me thinking, could I just swap the 105 calipers for new Ultegra ones? Would there be any benefit to doing this and would it work?
Also what about the Hope RX-4, as my shimano experience has been a bit annoying are these a good (if pricey) option?
Thanks
I've just out RX4s on, bit more powerful and look better as well. Easy to do if you have the right bleed kit.
Looking at the RX4 seriously now, the LBS is a hope stockist so is pricing up for me.
