odd isn't it. shimano steer clear of NW in favour of tall tooth and clutch, then put this in.
Allegedly the pros didn't like tall tooth and ran chain retainers, which Shimano didn't like.

Originaly filed in 2013 though - could just be used to block SRAM from doing it first? More interestingly the principles also suggest it could be used on a cassette?
