Does anyone on here have first hand experience of the EP801 motor? My previous (bad) experience of the EP8 has put me off Shimano motors, but the mechanic at the LBS was saying that Shimano have improved the seals and reduced the gear noise a bit on the 801. He also mentioned that they’ve improved their system for warranty problems to reduce the long delays. I’m just wondering if this has made a real world difference?
I've got the EP6RS, is that an EP601 i think... it's deffo quieter than my previous Rise which is EP8RS. It's still a little noisy on certain descents but again, quieter than the previous generation.

Tonnes of info over there.
Cool, thanks, that’s good to know with the 6 or 601 motor. It was a Rise that I had problems with the EP8 (the warranty replacement EP8 was fine though). It’s the new V3 Rise that I’m interested in, although I’m also wondering about seeing if I could pick up an alu 2023 model in the sales - I gather the alu framed Rises are the 6/601 motor(?)
Yeah mate. I do t personally think carbon brings anything to the party in an Eeb.
Mine is this and absolutely brilliant.
Hmm, yes, I spotted the abundance of XL’s. My previous Rise was a Large, but it did feel at the smaller end of the ‘large’ spectrum. Orbeas website puts me on either a large or XL - so looks like I’m going to have to track down an XL to try for size:)
Have a read of the intro to the new Cotic Rocket E-FS on the homepage here, they rates it for reliability Vs older EP8.
I am waiting for a latest Gen Orbea Rise to be delivered.
Purley anecdotal, but it does appear the less people appear to be having issues with the motors as Shimano have now had a few years to improve things.
This is what has put me off buying the Amflow instead. I cant imagine they will come to the market and not have issues, as it appears everything emtb the testing is all done by the consumer.
