Unlike Bosch motors where there are several options it appears that with Shimano outside of warranty the only option is landfill. Have I missed the obvious?
Theres a chap that repairs them IIRC, cant remember the name though, costs around £250 I think?

Cheers Tom, I know he has positioned himself as the goto for Bosch motors but I do not believe there is an "open" supply chain for Shimano bits.
If you’re the original owner and the claim is legit (not hacked / left out in rain for 2yrs kind of thing) try and get in touch on Insta. They seemed very nice when I needed help.
Wow, are they really that difficult to fix and maintain?? That would certainly put me off buying one. I don't actually do that much riding these days due to kids etc.. so 2 years doesn't correspond to much mileage.
My Bosch motor shit itself out of warranty, was basically told unlucky by Bosch and £740 for a replacement motor.
No independents could repair and Bosch just said new was only option available.
Dunno about the riders, but it's clear that manufacturers certainly have more fun with ebikes.....
I really like the Commencal Meta SX but that's Shimano and also direct sales. I was wondering who I would go to if I had an issue.
I can't buy one yet so I haven't made any serious enquiries. I'm willing to bet it would be a massive ball ache.
My mates Focus needed a new shimano motor out of warranty, had done 8400 miles, replaced no question.

What was the problem with it?
