Hi all,

Got myself some new brakes the other day.

Need 2 x 180 Shimano mounts both Post to Post.

Can only find Post to Post front? - can I just buy 2 & use one on the rear?

Thanks in advance.

Alan.

Yes, you can use the front one on the rear.

No (maybe)

Shimano do slightly different front and rear mounts, sometimes they work sometimes they don't. The only adapter that works on the back of my bike is the genuine shimano 180mm IS to post rear adapter, everything else was too tall by ~2mm or so.

Most of the time the rear is 20mm smaller than the front (so a 160mm IS front and 140mm IS rear), some post mounts are 140 some are 160 on the rear (because so few people use a 140 outside of competitive XC).

If it's a 160mm post mount frame then a +20mm post mount adapter should work, but after the PITA getting my last frame setup I no longer bank on it despite having a boxload of adapters to try! If it's a 140mm post frame then you'll need the +40mm version.
