Hi, I've just ordered a Stanton Sherpa frame to build up & I'm looking to buy a 1x12 Deore groupset for it. I've just noticed that all the Shimano groupsets seem to be a new Direct Mount.

The Shimano site ( https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/technologies/component/details/direct-mount-rear-derailleur.html) doesn't say anything about compatibility, but the point it attaches to looks quite different.

I think the Sherpa has normal/old style dropouts, does this mean it won't fit?

I thought Shimano had abandoned DM rear mechs.

1x11 is Direct Mount, 1x12 takes a standard hanger.

Ok, sounds good thanks. I've also found some photos on their site showing the Shimano mechs on them without the extra link thing too, so seems to be correct. Ta muckle.
