I think I might need to rebuild the master cylinder on my XT brakes, can you buy Shimano seal kit?
No one else replied, so I will have a go. I don't think Shimano do brake spare other than bleed nipples and levers. If someone else knows better then correct me I think all you can get from Shimano are new calipers and lever assemblies.
I don't know if anybody else does seals or seal kits, it might be worth looking on eBay.
I think some folk on here have experimented with seal replacement but in the caliper iirc. Easiest will just be a new lever.
Used these on Saint levers https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363544823074?var=632769165545
Not had need to try on M8100/M9120 levers. May or may not be compatible.
And for cost reasons, I usually go deore for the lever or even the non series one down as they are functionally the same as long as it's servowave. The bitepoint screw and tool free lever reach are not particularly essential for me.
Anywhere with good deals on levers at the moment?
I paid about £25 for a non series deore spec lever a few weeks ago from bikeparts.co.uk. It was an earlier era lever shape though and I paired it with an existing same era slx caliper.
Okay this is odd. Now my sons Bird has worse rear brake failure??? So I hang all our bikes up, some one way and some the other. I will try bleeding his brakes. It was 100% fine a few weeks ago.
I have found what I think is a seal kit online for my Master Cylinder. Question is how do you know which end is buggered? Once its here I will try a rebuild and bleed for both bikes. Failing that I will order a new lever set for my bike. Doesnt bode well for future maintenance does it?!

Why, what's wrong with it?

Again, what is the issue?
have you done a bleed following this video exactly?

If it's leaking from the master cylinder, there will be obvious oil on the levers if the bike is on the ground or over the outside of the master cylinder or clamp if hung up by the front wheel. If it's the caliper it will be obvious brake howl, not stopping etc. If none of that, then maybe bleed it first and see how long it lasts before symptoms of a leak at one end or other show.
I will reacquaint myself with the bleed technique and do both before I move on.
My sons has gone from solid to zero in a ride/one week hung up. Keep pumping and nuffin.
My bike has been spongy as #### for a while. Keep pumping and you get some feel back.
