Any tips and tricks on getting the best alignment of my Shimano Cleats. My left foot doesn't seem to suffer but no matter what I do I still get knee ache with my right foot. I don't think it helps that the knee discomfort is there when I'm trying to align.
Any tips on this?
Try a bike fitting session, I went with CycleFit in Covent Garden after suffereing with my knees for years. Much better now, they look at reach, saddle height, shoes etc etc. Not cheap mind but money well spent IMHO.
Match the cleat angle to that of your foot. If you sit on a table or similar high enough to have your feet off the floor and then let them hang naturally you should be able to see if your heels tend to point in or out etc. With mine I have to set each cleat differently as my heels point in by differing amounts.
I also had to stop using shimano pedals and move to time ones as the very limited float on shimano ones meant I could never quite get it right.
This lunch time looks like it'll be spent trying to adjust the cleats and practice ride round the car park. They already think I'm mad at work because I leave the car at home these days.
Left foot seems to point straight forward, however my right seems to be slightly on the pi$$ and pointing toe outwards so I've fiddled a little and so far seems OK. Problem is that my knee is still aching a little so It's hard to tell if I've got it right.
