What type of tool do I need to remove this chainring? I've gathered it's a BB tool. All the ones I have or can borrow from mates are the flat sheet metal kind which don't reach down to the splines.
All the cup style ones I can see are ratchet driven or have a handle or otherwise won't fit over the axle.
I have a plastic ring which fits but doesn't have the purchase to grip the ring.
Please tell me what I can get asap for a reasonable price before I throw it over the fence.
TL-FC41. Biketart have them for a good price at the mo. There’s been another thread on this recently.
I've got one of these from Amazon, clamped in a vice it works a treat. Think your in Sheffield, I'm in Dronfield if you're south Sheff and want to borrow it.

Thanks, I've been looking for the wrong thing. I didn't realise there were now specific chainring tools, I should have known.
Yes I'm in Sheffield thanks for the kind offer but I'm home alone with no car so I can't pop down for it.
I'm walking distance from a few different shops so I'll check there first then order that one from Biketart.
I don't even really 'need' it I just had an overwhelming urge to de-anodise my cranks during a full service.
