Howdy,
I'm hoping someone can clear this up for me. I've got a shimano (XT) M762 chainset, as came on a 08 Stumpy fsr. Can I fit newer model chainrings to it, SLX for example, or would it have to be M760?

Or are there any long lasting alternatives which do not require a re-mortgage ?

thanks, markcdo, markdkb2000@yahoo.co.uk

I believe its only XTR rings which are exclusive so to speak you should be fine with any 4 bolt chainrings (although try to stay away from XTR as it'll just get confusing).

Although am sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong!

The composite middlering can be made to fit the 762 chainset

Middleburn Slick shift or slick shift hard coat would be a better, longer lasting option

Thanks all, jd-boy, that's exactly what I'll go with,(Middleburn slick-shift/hardcoat) I assume they fit no problems?
