It doesn't seem obvious on websites which are the boost cranks and which are not. If I'm right in thinking the chainline being 52mm means it's Boost?
Is the part number different for M7000 / M7100 boost cranks?
Confused....
I spent a while going cross eyed and then realised that the reason it all looked weird was that it’s only the xx30 (8130 etc) 1x cranks that are differentiated and they’re superboost (which is a crazy size bigger than DH)
I'd not seen that, thanks.
Is boost 52mm or 55mm for Shimano?
Shimano states 52mm to be boost and 142 dedicated, 55mm apparently boost dedicated giving better chain line.
Kind regards
Looks like there isn't a 55mm "better" boost for XTR.
I found 55mm to be much better for boost with a 5010 frame. Solved an annoying clicking/engagement issue in the middle of the cassette in a 1x12 XT setup. No idea why.
I’d been told by an online bike shop that the SLX M7100 groupset was not boost... Yet they are all at least 52mm..... I now now 55mm is optimum but will 52 be fine? Group is cheaper
That depends on your frame as much as anything else. Neither of my boost frames would tolerate the chain ring being 3mm closer to the chain stay.
mild tangent. But if someone is after an XT boost chainset Biketreks in Ambleside have a set minus chainring for £50 in a clearance bin!
