The time has come to look into replacing my pretty much worn out 3x10 (how retro 8) ) setup after I clattered a rock on the Dyfi and snapped the inside of my rear mech cage in two.

The cost of SRAM cassettes has always put me off, but Shimano's new 11-46 boat anchor looks like it'll give me the range I want at a less eye watering cost. Does anyone know when it's likely to be in the shops?

August/September I would guess. Likely same timeline as 11spd slx
One-up 45t on an 11-40t is where I'm going, but is a bummer to have to pay the extra.

Was crossing my fingers for mid June.

Will it last another 4 months I wonder...

It's looking like mid-July at the moment.

Just put a 30 or 28 t front ring on with a normal 11-42 cassette for now.

Sram not that expensive - their lower end GX cassette is lighter than an XT 11-40 and has 10-42 range.

11-46 will be even heavier

Obviously the freehub will decide the ocst - if it's a new freehub neded, it's expensive, if you're speccing a new bike or new wheels, its no extra
