Shimano BL-RX810 "dual control" GRX lever; have I goofed?

Hey all,

I picked up a pair of GRX brifters the other day, comprising:

1 x GRX RX810 11-Speed Dual Control Lever/RX810 Hydraulic Disc Brake

1 x GRX RX810 Dual Control Lever/RX810 Hydraulic Disc Brake (Left- Rear)

these are to replace an aging and decrepit 2 x 11 105 hydro set that were falling apart.

Anyroads, I'm just fitting them and, much to my surprise the left-hand 'dual control' appears to have a single lever, much like SRAM 1 x. Which is disappointing as I used the LH 105 brifter to pull a dropper post.

Have I made a spectacular miscalculation, or is in fact a "BL-RX810" lever just a brake lever and nothing more?

ta

Does the brake lever blade pivot inwards? There wouldn't be a need for a second lever as that is only required for shifting. Quick search for pics shows no second lever for the dropper brifter.

Yes, that's just a brake lever.

the https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/grx-11-speed/BL-RX810-L.html

The st-rx810 is 2x shifter/brake and theres also a dropper specific variant too

Nixie- it does not.

Slacbkboy- thanks. The 'dual control' thing confused me. (What does that even mean??)

Back to the workshop....

thanks all

seems a bit shitty on Shimano's behalf to me, describing a brake-only lever as "dual" anything.

The dropper specific lever is the one you want but you still need to bodge it if the nipple is at the wrong end for your post.

Cheers. Yes, I've had successful dropping on a 105 dual lever for some time on this monstercross bike. All it needs is a solderless nipple at the post's actuator. These GRX levers are only going in because my ancient right hand shifter is getting a bit dilapidated, else I wouldn't be changing.

Shimano GRX RX810-LA is the 1x, dropper-specific lever that you want/need. It took me a ****ing age to understand the versions (first dropper bike for me).

As @rOcKeTdOg says, if your dropper has the nipple at the seatpost actuator end you'll need to bodge it as the GRX lever needs the nipple at that end. I was lucky that my older Brand X dropper I'm using has a cable barrel at the actuator end - you can also buy cable barrel thingys to add yourself.

Thanks- yeah, as said above I've surmounted this issue already using solderless nipples, but cheers.
