I've got an XT bottom bracket with really noisy bearings. I know there's a few options in terms of replacing the bearings and seals but are any worth the effort or shall I just ditch it ?
On my full suss I've got a stainless hope BB and I've had the seal out, washed and regreased it and its just into its 5th year of pretty hard riding so might just buy another for the HT unless anyone has any really good experience of replacement bearings ?
Not worth it when new BBs are so cheap from Rose etc. Used to do it but not worth the hassle.
I just stripped the Truvative BB off my SS as it was what's technically known as 'shot'.
Knocked the bearings out, and was contemplating getting new bearings for it.
But, when you factor in new bearings, new top-hats, and postage, suddenly my £14 XTR from Rose seemed cheap and stuck that in!
DrP
Cheers guys, just ordered a Hope from Wiggle but had I seen how cheap Rose is beforehand I'd porbably have gone with XTR. Great prices 😮
When did Shimano HT2 BBs get so cheap, last time i bought one I paid about £25 for a Deore one I have just had to replace a different BB and got a Deore for £13 at CRC with the RRP at £15. Pretty happy with that TBH.
