Hi guys I have recently fitted a new slx mech and chain and cassette all 11 speed. The cassette is 46tooth and when I’m in the largest cog the mech is so close to the cog it doesn’t seem right although it does shift and run quiet. I’m at the max of my b screw, is this right or have I had a brain dead day? I’ve done this a thousand times but I can’t understand why I’m at max b screw in adjustment. Chain is right length etc so I’m out of ideas. Anyone ? Thanks.
Doesn't sound right. With an 11 speed mech you shouldn't need much tension. Needs more investigation. Maybe a problem with how it is fitted to the frame mount
Have you got a direct mount mech on a non direct mount frame or something like that?
It's a 2018 bronson I've just built and the previous owner sent me a pic of the mech he took off and it was a non direct mount mech which is what I copied. If I direct mounted it it would definitely not clear the cassette. It does work and runs silent but I don't think it should at its max etc.
Have you got the tab on the mech in front of the tab on the hanger?
Yes Dave 100%.
You've not been an utter muppet and routed the chain through the mech incorrectly then wasted half your afternoon fannying with limit screws and hanger alignment to try to fix the resulting mess of a drivetrain? I mean what sort of chump would make such a stupid mistake...
Hahahaha no its runs nice but only at the extreme of adjustment. I'm wondering if the cassette being 46 is requiring a goat link or something. It shouldn't though as it's all slx m7000.
Shouldn't need anything like a goat link, I've used that mech in standard configuration on a mates bike with sunrace 50t cassette. You got a pic?
Yes I'm just out but will take one in the next 30mins 👍

I can see the pics not sure if everyone else can!
Pics are fine. 🙂
That looks like the older version, 10 speed mech to me, the clutch housing is a different shape on 11 speed and it has the original dynasis logo not the dynasis 11. In which case it is only designed for 36t hence your b screw at max.
Does the cage pivot around the top jockey wheel. If it is an 11 speed designed for large sprockets then the pivot will not be on the jockey wheel
Yes your right it's a 675 mech for 10 speed. I bought it new a few weeks ago as an 11 speed. No wonder I'm having issues! Thanks Dave and Co problem solved.
