Hi - I've just been on my second ride with an 11-speed Alfine Hub but the set up seems to be all to-cock!

Any experts out there who can offer some reasonable advice to a technical muppet?

The gears appear to run Low-to-High-to-Low again and keeps skipping...help!!?? Please?

Okay thanks. That ride was much better thanks - a proper low-to-high range this time.
Still not perfect though. Looking again the yelle/yellow markers are still 2/3mm out if alignment.
Is there an easy way to dial in the last bit of adjustment on the markers?

Is there not an adjuster on the gear lever?

Its important to get it bang on.

I thought there would be. At that end it just spins without moving the cable in any way 🙁

Guess the barrel adjuster (at the switch) is screwed. Don't use it till its fixed.
You will shag the hub if you ride it while it's badly aligned.

Perhaps the cable has stretched? Or the cable settled properly into the external part of the hub.

This is what I do for my Alfine 8 speed.

1. Remove cable from hub.

2. Set barrel adjuster on the lever to the middle of its range

3. Measure how far the nut on the cable that engages with the hub is and ensure that it is the correct distance. From memory it's 102mm on the 8 speed, but I cold be wrong and it's probably different for the 11 speed but the same principle should apply.

4. Adjust nut position if necessary.

5. Re-engage nut and select the correct gear for aligning the dots (it's 4th on the 8 speed, don't know what it is on the 11). The dots should be pretty close if you've selected the right gear.

6. Fine tune as required using the barrel adjuster

All sorted. Lessons learned:
- yellow dots line up with the yellow dots
- yellow/white lines line up with yellow/white lines

NEVER attempt to line up the lines with the dots (that would be stupid and lead to riding with Tourette-like outbursts)
🙄
