The BB has gone on my 'crosser. There don't seem to be many 68x118.5mm road ones about but there are 68 x 118 mtb ones a plenty. It's only .5 of a mill so will I get away with it or will it screw up shifting on the front?
Ta
That translates to 0.25mm each side.
I would be very surprised if it changed anything on the bike.
Just check your front mech is not on its inner end-stop (screw fully out) before you buy.
Also check you do not mix up ISO and JIS (see Sheldon for details) tapers.
Shimano are JIS, most others are too, but Campagnolo is ISO.

The one thats in is a Shimano one so that should be ok. I am tempted to just get it. Thanks.
Just remembered there's a compatability problem with mtb and road octalink. Bugger.
Mr S,
Not expecting you to mention Octalink.
Sheldon is your man again...

I have a used but excellent ES30 V2 68x118 I used with an LX crankset you can persuade me to sell...if that fits your cranks.
Edit> CRC have both types in 68x118 English in stock from £13.

Road Octalink is/was the same standard as XTR cranks, and also a few Cannondale MTB's used this too.
MTB Octalink was slightly different, and though they look similar, the one will not fit the other.
Make sure you get the right type of Octalink BB (V1 or V2 as outlined on Sheldon's website), but 0.5mm won't make a discernible difference...
wot sheldon (and paul (edit: and mboy)) said - xtr octalink fits road cranks
And you can force a road crank onto a cheaper mtb octalink but it does deform the slots (I was young and in a hurry 😳 )
Thanks all. Found the right one eventually at Ribble.
Shimano still make them at 105 level
