i ran a 36t deore m532 and a m510 on my xtr crank set with no issues.. think the only advantage of the slx vers. over the deore are weight... slx will ware out much quicker than the deore.... i replace all my chain rings and cassettes with deore now, saving my self a forturne... and have never noticed the weight difference
however you can only run a deore M532 inner on slx-xt as the lugs where the bolts go through are too long on the other vers...
