Seen the prices of x1 yet? Ouch! Cheaper but not affordable! Any reason why shimano couldn't pull a fast one and release an slx 1x11 group set? It's what people want, surely they would sell bucket loads.

First rule of selling: get as much as you can.
Look what Shimano have done with electronic shifting: start with eye-wateringly expensive Dura-ace then once the tech starts to be paid for introduce it to the next level down (Ultegra). In a year or two it will appear in the 105 range.
They'll do the same with this.

I guess because it would render most of the rest of their range obsolete.
