So I need a new rear mech and it's about the same price to get a 12-speed as an 11-speed one.
I'm assured it should pull fine, but just wondering if there's anything funny about the jockey wheels or spacing that might cause problems with an 11-speed chain.
Has anyone tried it?
I don’t have a great deal of useful input, but I recently snapped my brand spanking 12spd XT mech and replaced it with an 11spd I had lying around just to tide me over.
Very different overall shape, but the pull ratio seems fine and it’s indexed correctly. The only issue I’ve had is the 11spd cage clashes with my outrageously huge 51t cassette, but I’m guessing this shouldn’t be an issue for you.
Massive jockey wheels on the 12spd compared to the 11 so maybe a bit more chain length required too?
Useful to know anyway cheers. If it doesn't work I could just put it aside until I can afford to go 12sp, I suppose.
I have read somewhere that a 12sp GX will work fine with my 11 speed NX. I was looking as the 11 speed will only go to 42T whereas the 12 speed GX will go to 50T and that's where I want to get to.
Couple of people saying it works on MTBR:

Nice one, cheers.
Sounds quite promising.
