Has anyone run a Shimano 12 speed derailleur with an 11 speed shifter? Ideally I'd like to find the pull ratios to confirm this but no joy yet?

The new XTR system can be run 11 speed but this set-up just removes one click from the 12 speed shifter so wouldn't work with a wider spaced 11 speed cassette. One possible option could be to use the newly released 11 speed Deore rear mech which should work fine with existing 11 speed Shimano cassette but ideally I'd like to run a 12 speed XTR derailleur with an existing 11 speed shifter. I have seen the youtube video but would prefer a bit more evidence before committing to buying parts.

I'm running a SLX 12sp mech with a XTR 11sp shifter, and an 11-50 Sunrace cassette, and it works great. I'm not 100% happy with the cassette but there's no issues with the shifter and mech.

Similar scenario here, no problems.

That's good, cos I can upgrade bit by bit in that case.

@yetiman I'm guessing it's the csmz903 sunrace

Obviously people are running them with no issue, but IIRC 11sp Shimano is direct mount, 12sp is standard in terms of derailleur hanger.

Is this not causing an issue?

@martinhutch - both my 11sp XT mechs are standard mount but you can remove the tab, or whatever the upper mounting bit is called for direct mount hangers.

@Big-Bud - it's the MX80 cassette. The shifting quality just isn't up there with the Shimano XT 11-46 it replaced. It feels like the shift ramps on cogs 3-7 aren't pronounced enough, as there's a slight hesitation when shifting, although it does seem to be improving with use.

That's right, I remember now. I had trouble trying to use a direct mount hanger with a 12sp mech when I converted another bike!

Been running a 12spd XT mech with a 11 speed XTR shifter, KMC Chain and a Modded One Up/XT 10-50, 11 speed cassette since October.

Works well enough, There are one or two gears with a bit of hesitancy but nothing super awful.
