Need a new derailleur and waiting for Shimano to allow Hope to release their microspline cassette so thinking of getting the new M8100 rear mech to use with my 11speed XT set up until this happens; come on Shimano!
Any reason why this shouldn't work?
Isn’t a 12 speed cassette wider than an 11 speed cassette? It would mean the mech is designed to work over a wider swing so I would worry the limit screws might not adjust enough to stop the mech going off the top or bottom of the cassette.
I’m waiting for a hunt (novatech?) microspline freehub so interested if 12 speed mech would work for now
I also want to know this. I want 12sp in the long run for one bike but I already have a lot of 11sp kit except the mech and shifter. It would help if I can buy a 12sp mech and transfer it at upgrade time.
what about using a 12 speed cassette from Sunrace? it will fit your current hub - I';m thinking the same while awaiting for Hope microspline
So I took the risk and bought a 12speed xt rear mech. Needed to lengthen chain as the mech has larger jockey wheels and with the offset upper jockey wheel vs charge pivot it does make a difference to chain length. Range is fine (upper and lower adjuster OK) but shifting precision is not brilliant. I guess thiz down to the narrower jockey wheels to accept a narrower 12speed chain running on the wider 11speed chain creating a bit of slack across the chain. Definitely rideable, until I can get a hope microspline.
