I'm looking for a SRAM x9 front mech, x9 shifters on the bars, and I've been told that I can also use shimamo front mechs? If I can it would be good as shimamo mechs seem cheaper and easier to find. Anyone know if that's correct , I thought the pull rates or something differed between brands.

Fronts are cross compatible. It's rears that aren't.

As above. Always used Shimano front mechs with my SRAM shifters.
