My new bike build has a last problem.

Front shifter wont down shift. I have tried 2 XTR shifters, both proven to work on another other bike. Cable outer is new Goodrich, Inner cable new teflon coated, Mech is brand new, but tried another and same problem.

Issue is it wont drop down when I pull the lever, but will if I push it (most of the time but not always). It will work if I take slight tension off the mech first using my hand.

So, it suggest there is too much tension!!, but how so?

Anyone else ever had this problem, before I got 1x9 in despair.

Sounds as if the cable is too tight.

Replaced my front mech cable yesterday using this guide.

Cheers but the cable is only hand tight when in the slack position, so it cant be overtightened.

When u fitted the cable did you have shifter in the slackest position ?

Try loosening the cable and retightening it when in smallest setting.
