What's the current favourite for shifter cable these days?
Currently building a new bike & not sure what to order or where from.
Only running a rear shifter, so either singles or multiples of, without the short front cable needed.
Have used everything from expensive Goretex stuff to freebies from the magazine in the past but there's so much out there to choose from!

Any recommendations appreciated.

SP41 outers and cheap stainless inners for me. Lasts well, bargainy cheap, can't see any reason to overcomplicate things unless you want superlight. I got a couple of the shimano kits ages back, annoyingly the outer comes pre-cut into random lenghts which means they don't work on all bikes but the wee sealed cable ends etc last forever so some of mine have been on 6 or 7 bikes I reckon.

Bog standard Shimano outer with whatever stainless inners I happen to have from the last bulk buy.
Ferrules also, buy them in a pack of 25 / 50 etc.

Thanks guys,

Another thought, am i right in thinking that the standard Shimano outer is the slightly skinnier stuff?
I've got internal routing on the new frame, so anything that makes that easier is fine by me!

Seek out 1.1mm inners to go with the sp41, lightens up shifting a load.

SP41 can be bought in lengths (I bought from fatbirds, others do it). If you have SRAM then you need the 1.1mm inners, the outer doesn't matter.
