any other steel 29'' frame that would suit general trail and offroad touring duties.

had a swift in the past, was very comfy, even full rigid. had plenty of on one 29ers over the years, again comfy and suitable.

fancy something different.....ideas?

Ton, you could buy my soon to be for sale 2015 Longitude 20.5" frame for £150. That includes a rigid fork and clearance for 29x3" tyres. It has done one and half winters of commuting though and has some expected scuffs.

Nothing to add, but will be following this as have same requirement.
I'm after something slightly longer than current frame, but with option to run 29+ or 650+.
By the way - small/medium Sherpa's are currently down to £333 which is tempting...

Interesting thread as I am more into off-road touring these days. My swift is still v comfortable along with the Jones loops.

Any other suggestions welcome, I have followed the various Jones threads but it's q big step up cost wise. Tbh I enjoy riding my old road tourer the most.

I don't think there's much wrong with any of the three Ton mentions (I've a Mk1 Solaris) Not mentioned so far (since neither are steel) are the newish Alpkit offerings the Transmitter and Broken Road. £300 for the Transmitter frame and £800 for the Ti BR. I haven't seen any independent reviews of either.

I've been doing the same, but am looking for a bit more relaxed "do all" frame that will run SS. Stooge is the prime candidate atm. But I do still enjoy the ride of my Swift...

Cheers, Steve
