Any recommendations, specifically for a full sus frame?

Two Brothers seem OK but they haven't responded to email. They're one of those annoying companies that think Facebook Pages and Messenger are a replacement for an actual website. Not understanding that some people would rather stick pins in their eyes than be on Facebook.

Yes, I could phone them. But I haven't out of principle.

Can anyone recommend somewhere else? Or convince me that they're worth pursuing?

I'm just after a gloss RAL colour, nothing fancy.

These lads did my Geometron. They're frame builders and they only do bikes so they won't be trying to fit it in between alloy wheels or fence posts or whatever.

It cost a bit more than I expected at £140 but the quality is perfect and it still looks mint two years later. Would definitely use again.

RAL5001 if I remember correctly. It looks better now with black decals.

Ahhh....I'd come across them but there isn't a huge amount of info on their website. It seemed a bit like a collective so I wasn't sure what the quality would be like.

It's good to know that they do a top job, I'd much rather pay for a bike specialist than use a typical industrial/commercial outfit. Do they also fit decals and lacquer over them? Or did you just place them on top of the powder coat?

I'll drop them a line tomorrow. Really appreciate the recommendation, thank you.

Two Brothers are crap IME. They did a Cotic for me, scarcely had any colours, and did such a shoddy job first time round I had to get them to reblast and redo it. THere were still a few rough patches but I couldn't face getting them to try a third time...

I did my own decals I've got a vinyl plotter. There's no lacquer on it. They just media blasted the raw frame and then put a solid colour on it. They perfectly masked all the bits that would not benefit from a layer of powder which most places won't take the time to do.

@finbar Thanks pal, that crosses them off the list. Looks like CyclesInMotion will be getting my business.

@sharkattack Wondering if lacquer over decals is actually worth it. Are you happy as they are? Bonus being that without lacquer they can be changed in future if needed?

Yeah exactly, with lacquer they'd be permanent and I'd be stuck with yellow graphics which didn't look as good as I imagined! Also since I do them myself, I can replace them if I damage them, which hasn't happened yet.

The powder coating itself looks great without any extra protection. I did damage it a little on the chainstay by forgetting to switch on the clutch mech. That's now hidden under some more substantial chainstay protection.

If you need any graphics let me know. You can pick your own colour of vinyl and I'll cut out the design and turn them into stickers for you.

Booked in with Cycles In Motion. 6 week lead time and 3 week turnaround. Because lockdown.

£250 including refacing and bearing strip/replacement. Fairly pricey but I'm always happy to go with a recommendation; I won't be doing it again and I don't want any hassle caused by a bad job.

All change. I'm likely going with LS Coatings now after reading some good reviews and seeing their work.

Further conversations with Cycles in Motion revealed that the turnaround time is irrelevant. It's 6 weeks turnaround from drop off and I can't be without my bike for that period.

LS Coatings also quoted £40 for the work. I'm just awaiting confirmation that my alloy frame will be acid dipped rather than blasted.

Is that the one in Castleford. If so you won't be disappointed. They have done a few frames for us and all been first class.

Post up the results. I've got 2 other bikes that might want doing so I'm interested to see it.

I remember Cycles in Motion had mine for a surprisingly long time. Can't remember exactly how long but it was over xmas and new year so I wasn't bothered.

They look pretty good. I just found their Instagram page, there's a lot of close up shots and a handful of bikes. I'll probably give them a try on my DJ bike and maybe the girlfriend's Stumpjumper

@Tracey Yep, that's the one. A quick search on here threw up your old posts and they were a big factor in my decision.

So thanks 😁

I’ve used two brothers - bad job. I don’t think they even stripped the frame, you could make out the old decals under the new powder.

Have since used cbf coating in neepsend. They dipped, coated and clear coated a road frame for me. It wasn’t the cheapest but they did a lovely job. I’d use them again.

LS always get good reviews from the retro mob, especially for the price.

Another to consider are Triple S in Bingley. Cost a bit more than LS but they are superb. My mate recently had his full suss Specialized Camber done and the job was first class and we've both had various hardtails sprayed over the years.

@cakeandcheese
I used CBF and they were rubbish.

Said it would be a week, it was 3. Said they'd mask stuff off, they didn't.

When I called round to check what was going on they gave me someone else's (much nicer) frame, when I said it wasn't mine I got a tour of the factory where they found my frame stacked with a load of others. Looked like they had been blasted on day 1 and left to rust over since then.
