Last night, while trying to find out why both my tyres were flat, I noticed that I've sheared one of the bolts holding the rear derailleur hanger on.

I didn't have time to take it all to bits last night, so have no idea what size they are. I don't suppose anyone with a Calibre Dune knows so I can order a couple?

While we're on the subject, I should really have a replacement hanger as well, is the Scott Big Jon Replacement Derailleur Hanger still the recommended spare for the Dune…?

I would hazard a guess they are M4 x 8mm countersink screws. That is a hanger we at BETD do not currently make but we are going to do one for the Bossnut soon.

They're standard metric screws - maybe M4 x 10 countersunk as they're quite common on bikes. Head snapping could be symptomatic of the mech hanger taking a knock so may want to check alignment.

dovebiker I did notice that mid-range shifting had gone to pot on my last ride; 1-2-3 were fine, 3-4 mostly fine, 4-5-6, were abysmal, 6-7 mostly fine, 7-8 fine. Was hoping a bit of adjuster tweaking would fix it, but given the bolt issue, I'll have to have a closer inspection…

The most common length of countersunk screw is 8mm NOT 10mm as 10mm could actually be too long and will protrude on the frame not allowing your wheel to fit. Best thing to do is remove the good one and measure it. Send us a large letter stamped addressed envelope to BETD c/o Paul and I'll ship you 2 out.
