The bolt that connects the brake hose to the lever had cracked, releasing the hose on my Hayes Dominion brakes whilst riding! Upon trying to remove the bolt it sheared level with the top of the threads. I'm hoping I can get this out to salvage the brakes as the levers aren't available separately and forking out for a whole brake unit is hard to swallow!
Any tips?
Also, I have an uplift booked at DYFI on Sunday and for that I have an old SRAM guide lever laying around that I could potentially use. Unfortunately the hose in my frame for the hayes seems too thick to fit in the SRAM connector bolt. Any ideas on what the standards are here and what I need to make it work?
And easy out might do the trick, depends if there is any tension in the threads, or if its just sitting in there. A small torx bit gently hammered in there might work, but go gentle!
