There must be a good solution to this. I thought Strava, but it doesn't seem to be an option.
If a club wants a library or routes is there a good way to share them so that people can see what they are and download them without everyone paying fees? Road, mainly, if that makes a difference.
Right now we are just using a shared google drive with GPX files in but you have to go off the name because you can't see the route before you download and open somewhere. This defeats some people.
It would be nice to have a small picture of the route, some basic detail (like distance, elevation) and then a link to a file that people can download without paying. The club might pay to host.
Is it a case of finding someone to manage this on a website or is there a simple solution?
One pvt kamoot account that the person for routes in the club admins and allows access to members who ask? Members can email gpx of their routes to be added, then once uploaded they can add pictures/advice etc
kamoot allows sharing and you can collate collections of routes iirc
We just plan our routes on RWGPS. All club runs have a link to the route thus anyone can play. We can also link to non planned routes Sort of "here's one I did earlier" .
The archive is there although not instant to find. Maybe we should just have a club account with all routes put there. Hmmm, I wonder?
The club webiste also has a page of routes.
If a scheme involves one person administering it it there is always scope for things not happening.
Our routes are shared to Strava to encourage people to download them for self-sufficiency and to shout up when the ride captain takes a wrong turn (ahem)
Seems to work fine.
One of the local clubs puts their routes on RWGPS which is handy when I want a new route or two 🙂
