You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
This is an un-ashamed plug for my new bike friendly, dog friendly, kid friendly Cafe on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
Conveniently located 100yds from the Sherrifhall Roundabout on the A720 city bypass.
We have a garden room where you can bring your bikes inside, next to your table, where you can keep an eye on them.
Perfect stop off if you are traveling with bikes on your car rack - no need to leave them outside in the car park.
Fresh local food. We use a high welfare butcher. Vegan and vegetarian options. Amazing breakfast options.
Hope to see you soon.

Thanks Scruff, duly noted about the map!
We are in the old fruit farm on the A7 old dalkieth Road 🙂

Your a stones throw from me I know lots of cyclists 🙂 I’ll ping the club and friends a message 😎
Not sure on their rules for shameless plugs, but i think it's pretty relaxed, get yourself in on this group and their very useful app:
Popped in today with my wife & son for a late lunch - really, really good food! Prawn tacos for the win!
Wish you all the best at being successful!
Was that location a cafe a few years ago?
I used to work locally and would occasionally get breakfast rolls from a place that looks like the same location.
shameless bump, looks very tasty 🙂 Wants breakfast now even though its 19:00
Thank you so much for coming to us and for your great feedback. It was lovely to meet you and your family, even if you don't own a horse 😁 The tacos are a particular favourite of mine too 😋
Tell ALL your friends 😁
It's not far from me but honestly not somewhere I pass on bike or in car. But I'll try and find a reason to - EDIT - especially with huevos rancheros!
Need to organise a stw meet up, drivers could park at the park and ride, pre/post ride food and drink.
This looks good and I will stop by next time I am in town in August.
Suggestions on the website: you don't have the word "cafe" on there! If you're a tourist that doesn't speak English (or even don't know Scottish English), I don't know if you'd know to go to the "bothy" for a "feed".
I know you don't want to fanny around online endlessly, but try to get a couple pf photos on your own website rather just on Facebook. The menu link doesn't work for me but that's probably just the Facebook app being rubbish as usual. Also you need your address on your website.
Your listing on Google Maps is good (good photos, clear location etc) BUT the "about us" section still mentions that you're opening soon.
If you're dog friendly, bike friendly, caravan parking friendly, motorbike friendly - you can stick all that in the description so people can find it.
Sorry - not trying to be a smartarse - I know launching a new business means a billion zillion things to do!
I would agree with some of those comments, I don't really do Facebook now, so don't use the app and the link above didn't work very well for me.
This is great feedback guys. Very very appreciated.
Friends and family are great but will often just say everything in brilliant. Your feedback is welcome criticism.
Keep it coming.
I'm not local, but I drive up to Scotland several times a year, and this would be a great place to be able to get a good coffee, so will try and remember.
Agree with the comments above about your web presence, particularly about location. A one-page website is fine, but I learnt about the history of your building (which is nice, but not first-paragraph important) but not where it is or when you're open!
Address, opening hours, and link to Google Maps can't be hard to add?
Best of luck with it, hope to visit soon.
I will make it a priority to pop in when using the A720. Always make it a priority now to use places like this rather than the sanitised Costa, Starbucks etc.
I'll swing by one day. Only 4 junctions up the bypass
So... How's it going?
Looks great from the menu - shame it's not my local as i'd be in there every week. Best of luck with it all hope it's going well.
It all goes good!
We are still open at least 😄
Been a bit of a roller coaster. Ups. Downs.
Weekends are busy enough. During the week has been inconsistent.
Reviews have been incredible.
Not had many bikle-ists on bikes tho. I guess w eared badly located. Too close to town to make it worthwhile stopping for Edinburgh based clubs. Too close to town for out of town based clubs who have better places to cycle 😄
Well, full disclosure of sorts. I rode out there today but just passing. It is out of the way, you'd need to know and also brave a section of busy road. That said, can be done on pavement.
If possible you could do with some signs on the cycle path, and more obvious signage out front.
Just my thoughts. Will get along soon for some goulash soup.
Yeah, there's a marked cycle lane on the road bit I take your point about signage on the cycle path. There is a traffic free route from the cycle path to the cafe but its not quite as straight forward as the road.
See you soon 👍
If you haven't already done so consider adding yourself to OpenstreetMap but tagged as a bike friendly cafe. If you are lucky this might mean you appear on Garmin maps eventually as they like to surface bike features on their maps. They aren't at all clear about how they identify what they show but I would start with these tags unless you can find better info:
'Places like amenity=pub, amenity=cafe or even amenity=community_centre can be themed on bicycle. Adding the relevant service:bicycle:* tags makes it possible to find "bike cafés" or "cycle bars". '
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:service:bicycle:*
As far as I know Garmin updates their maps twice a year. There are lots of other maps that use Openstreetmap data though so you might appear there even sooner
I'd forgotten about this.
We'll call in next time we're passing.
Hopefully pop in the end of the month when we're heading south to see family.
Menu doesn't see to be working for me?
Must be just my phone as I shared with my daughter and see sees it fine.
Thanks @leffeboy.
I've had a go at adding it to openstreetmap. Hopefully I've done that right.
Thanks again, very helpful
It should simply open up the menu in your browser or pdf viewer. Sadly it doesn't appear to work very consistently.
I'm afraid I'd kinda forgotten about you too. Normally drive in and out of town via Gilmerton so I don't pass by often. If I'm out on the gravel bike I'll often consider a pit stop but kinda spoilt for choices heading east or west.
Don't be ashamed - sounds much better than the one run by this twerp...
I see you've add the service:bicycle tag but I'm not sure that exists, I think you need to specify the service e.g. service:bicycle:pump=yes. If you have bike parking you can add that as well. No harm in leaving it but I'm not sure it exists so it may not be picked up
Ah... it is apparent I don't know what I'm doing 😄
I'll have another go tomorrow
Ah… it is apparent I don’t know what I’m doing
nope you do, everything else you added looks good. It was just the service:bicyle thing that looks a bit wrong. It might be you don't actually have a specific service you can add but in any case the rest looks fine
No eggs Benedict? Im ooot
Just joking. Its not fancy pants leith is it😜
have been researching the best eggs benedict in Edinburgh. Cost me a ziillon quid. A coronary artery bypass and 2 inches on the waist
Ill call in sometime and I've some biking pals live close. Ill let them know
