I bought a set of used Revs 2010 150mm travel off STW classifieds. It didn't come with instructions. So questions as follows.....

1. The rebound adjuster feels stiff, also clicks around to 10-12 times is this correct?.

2. The compression adjuster (blue lockout) moves freely with no resistance , is this correct?.

3. The gold coloured knob (says Gate) on top of the compression adjuster moves around with no resistance and with seemingly no limits after several full turns. Is this correct and secondly what does it actually do?.

Any info gratefully recieved.

1. Probably has a little muck in it. It should be firm but turns (hard to describe).

2. Blue knob should be smooth, it's hydraulic (I think).

3. Gate=Floodgate. This is the force required to release lockout so you don't damage the fork when riding locked out. Are you sure it isn't a cap? There is internal and external floodgate adjustment, it may be the cap for internal which uses a little allen adjuster underneath the cap. If you have this it will have a hexagon with "2.5" etched in. Tease this out, pull out the red rebound adjuster (which is a 2.5mm allen key) and adjust from there.

The manuals are free to download from the RockShox/SRAM site. It will explain how many clicks etc for your weight.

Herman...the gold gate adjuster has a small grub screw on the side of it (am at work currently so no fork here). If it helps they are Revelation Race 150mm forks?.

Tried the SRAM site but can't find the setting up/adjustment manuals . Only seem to find technical / service manuals??

Tech/service manuals are what you want.

If it's definitely 2010 then THIS is what you need to read (not all of it!).

It seems my floodgate is external, surely it doesn't go round and round endlessly, it must have limit stops?

It's normal for the external floodgate (gold knob) to have several turns of adjustment in it. Maybe 6-8 full turns ish.

The blue knob can be smooth & changes the fork from fully active when in the forward position to 'lockout' when in the rear position.

When in the 'lockout' position the degree of lockout is determined by how far the gold knob is turned. At one extreme the lockout will be almost complete (maybe a few mm's movement). at the other extreme of adjustment the fork will feel almost like there's no lockout at all. What the gold knob is actually doing is opening a valve at the bottom of the motion control assembly within the fork leg which allows oil to flow through as the fork is depressed.

Ok, i get that. So the blue compression knob if forward is open and back is locked out, does having it anywhere else have an effect say halfway?.

I don't think it does, but I've met people who do...
