Anyone know of any good guides or systems to follow when setting up road cleats (SPD-SL's if it makes any difference).
I need to give my position a tweak (due to an injury) and I've not changed set-up since I have a bike fit about 10 years ago.
I think the modern thinking is cleats as far back as possible. There may be arguments over efficiently but it's the least likely position to cause injuriesÂ
Need to change things due to an injury sounds like a bike fit job to me ideally by someone who can properly assess the injury. Â
FWIW mine (from a bike fit) are roughly pedal spindle in line with that big bony lump at the base of the big toe. Â

Yeah, agreed, but realistically that’s not going to happen. So an online guide would be useful.Â

This.
Lower and advance the saddle slightly to compensate.
Put them back as far as possible and level. The float in normal SPD-SL cleats should take up a reasonable twist but if you need more then move a little bit at a time until they're comfortable. Using a turbo trainer really helps too.Â
