Hi Folks,

I appreciate bike set up is often down to personal preference but I'm looking for some general advice regarding setting up drop bars - in this case Sonder Bomber bars which are flared.

I recently build up a Camino Al in XL.

Its my first proper - i.e. not a bastardised mtb - drop bar bike.

I have long arms and yet with a 80mm stem feel a little stretched on the hoods - this may just be me adjusting.

The drops feels surprisingly good despite the short nature of the bars at this point and my big hands!

The hoods are slightly upright and I don't feel that I'm going to slip off the front - I'm taking this as a good thing!

I could post a pic but then you'll see my uncut steerer and I couldn't take the abuse for that ....

All help much appreciated 🙂

M

Uncut steerer during setup is totally fine.

Its also totally fine to have uncut sterrer if the bike needs it to fit you... Within reason... If its a thorn with 12inches or spacers just leave now.

It may take time to get used to the drops.

A little odd that they are comfy there bit not in the drops are but I don't know the bars.
