My 15 year old son is entered into this weeks SES with his mates. They are all fit and more than capable riders and used to Mtb Borders series downhill competitions so I have no fear about any of them . Obviously Ill be down at Innerleithen for both days but just wondering am I ok to ride with them on the practice day which is saturday . Im not trying to get a free ride as will have done pretty much all of the trails over the last few years. As he has never ridden one im just wondering if they are marshalled on the saturday as Im struggling for a riding buddy and its a long day sitting about the car park . ? Hopefully get top banter from Geex and Stevenmenmuir on the sunday.

Have they ridden the Golfie at all? If not they might have an eye-opening weekend!
Worth a quick chat with the organisers at sign-on. Can’t see it being a problem though.
Also worth mentioning that the marshalling is nothing like DH. Marshals are very few and far between on the stages
Yup they have all ridden the golfie and one was even at the BDS at fort william today . my question was kinda aimed at joining them rather than their ability. Cheers for the info re the marshalls though . To be honest if the stages are tricky ill be the one bailing and finding another way down the hill. 😉
Whether it's allowed or not I don't know- I'd ask, and stress the "young son" side.
But, I've ridden practice with no number board (because of an issue at their end) and nobody batted an eyelid. Practice is barely marshalled. And tbh the way no fuss do things, you could alwats say "Frazer says it's fine" and everyone'll believe you. Unless you say it to Frazer.
I ended up riding practice at an inners round of some big Enduro race while out riding on my own just because I happened to be out riding and the stages used were part of the route I'd planned on doing. No one even mentioned that I had no number board and everyone was friendly.
I'd def ask the organisers in your case but as suggested explain Rdawg and his mates ages and that it's their first Enduro. If it's cool just make sure you're not in any legit racers way or holding anyone up (just chatting and letting faster riders through/start before you should be enough but also pulling over if required if caught) and I can't see it being a problem.
I'd also recommend you ride big baw instead of boner/waterworld and meet them on the fire road they both end up on. (you'll be higher up so if they're climbing back up that way after their stage you'll be able to just wait for them at the end of bigbaw)
There's actually an older easier track runs sort of the same way as BB. You'd turn right at the first clearing before you enter the long straight(ish) fast (flatter) section of BB. Might be pumphouse or pumper but as you know I'm pish with STRAVA names. Northwind can probably tell us its name.
I think Stanfreejr and his mates will be a fair bit quicker than Santa Cruz Charlie and his IT mates.
Yes you can do it - I've done it on one round last year.
I like the way that Muckmedden encourage chaperones by issuing a free wristband at sign on, but no number. Easy for marshalls and riders.
See you there - eldest_oab and pals are racing, a big gang from Stirling bike club. I'm there on Sunday too.
And your lot will have no problems on the terrain, other than IT consultant Keith getting in thier way on the steep bits...

Comment of the day.
Do you know what trails they are using Geex?
Slight issue ( and I doubt it's an issue) normal Access rights will be suspended.
quite alot of people ride the stages on practice days that aren't part of the race.
Do you know what trails they are using Geex?
the ones the locals are currently caning like mad 😉
"its easier to as for forgiveness rather than asking for permission"
looks like 4 at golfy and 2 at inners.
