Threads about Evans crop up from time to time. Thought I'd share a positive experience. I know that's not necessarily the STW done thing but here goes.

Bought a Norco.

Immediate experience was excellent. Price was good anyway. They drew my attention to their bike trade-in and lopped more off the price. They swapped out the crank (with an upgrade) because I wanted 170mm and gave me list price off the removed item and discounted price on the added item. All really cool with friendly, informed people to deal with.

Giving the new bike a once over at home, there was evidence of oil leaking from the shock; a nuisance but worth finding earlier rather than later. Back to a different branch. Shock sent to Evans internal suspension service centre. Email notification it had arrived with them and able to get them on the phone to talk through what they're seeing. The fault is clear and will be sorted. Again, dealing with informed enthusiastic staff.

Between OH and myself we've bought 9 new bikes since 2007, always dealing with local bike shops. The prices from on-line brands are tempting but the on-line thing puts me off. In this case the Evans experience couldn't help but be a little bit less personal than a true LBS but they've measured up in service delivery. I'm sure there are mixed experiences so I offer this just as a balancing viewpoint.
